5 Reasons to Switch to an Expanded Polystyrene Palett

CONTENTS
1. A healthy, satisfied and safe operator
2. A recyclable and recycled material
3. Excellent protection and insulation
Article abstract:
- Ultralight (less than 2 kg) and without nails or staples, Eurolight® pallets help reduce MSD, the risk of cuts/crushes and impact noise, for safer, more satisfied operators.
- Single-material EPS, recyclable through dedicated channels and the Knauf Circular® program, they do not require ISPM-15 treatment.
- High protection and insulation (impact, humidity, stacking, temperature maintenance, hygiene), excellent strength-to-weight ratio (<4 kg depending on model).
1 – A healthy, satisfied and safe operator
Today, we no longer need to translate the acronym MSD for everyone to know what we’re talking about. Musculoskeletal disorders are a real danger for all operators.
The Eurolight® pallet is ultra-light, weighing less than 2 kg, making it easy to handle. This helps combat back pain and tendonitis.
The material also reduces the risk of splinters and cuts (no nails or staples), and the risk of injury from falling pallet stacks (crushing of fingers, hands and feet).
And as an added bonus, these pallets eliminate the impact noise of pallets slamming into the ground (peak niose levels).
Okay, that’s a good start, but if you’re not convinced yet, read on.
2 – A recyclable and recycled material
I’m single-material, recyclable in dedicated channels, I integrate recycled and waste materials, I’m, I’m, I’m? The expanded polystyrene pallet.
Recyclable and recycled in the Knauf Circular® collection and reclamation program and in dedicated channels. We produce our pallets using recycled materials, giving a second life to our waste. Once the pallets have reached the end of their useful life, we take them back for shredding to make new products. The loop is endless.
What’s more, its light weight helps reduce carbon footprint.
And another little bonus: polystyrene, which is naturally neutral, does not require ISPM-15 treatment.
These first two arguments have seduced you, so wait until you see the rest.

3 – Excellent protection and insulation
Eurolight® pallets are made from expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is an excellent insulator, with good thermal performance, rot-proof properties, excellent moisture resistance and excellent impact resistance.
This range of pallets allows you to take care of your products by :
- Absorbing shocks during transport
- Ensuring damage-free stacking
- Maintaining product temperature and avoids energy transmission when immobilized
- Ensuring food safety and hygiene during transport and storage of products such as food or pharmaceutical products (as they do not accumulate moisture, they are not attacked by insects, fungi or bacteria).
Are you beginning to wonder “why not?
4 – A LIGHT WEIGHT FOR A HUGE SUCCESS
Polystyrene gets bad press, considered fragile…. Their lightness (less than 4 kg for the largest model), is not at the expense of solidity. They have an excellent strength-to-weight ratio(see product data sheethere ).
I can see the arguments, but there’s still one major detail…
5 – An economic argument
With the covid crisis and geopolitical tensions running high, it may be time to look at other alternatives. The price gap between expanded polystyrene pallets and wooden pallets is narrowing.
What’s more, when we talk budget, we have to take all costs into account.
The fight against MSDs will enable you to reduce work stoppages on the shop floor.
The lightness of pallets, meanwhile, will enable you to make savings by optimizing your transport costs.
To finish with one more reason, in addition to our standard range of Eurolight® and S-KI pallets, we offer tailor-made solutions, adapted to your specifications.
Conclusion: the winning choice for efficient, circular logistics
Eurolight® EPS pallets combine operator safety, maneuverability and sturdiness to reduce MSD and make operations safer; their light weight optimizes flows and lowers transport costs, while the single-material design and Knauf Circular® expanded polystyrene collection program simplify take-back and recycling at end-of-life. They are available in standard or customized formats.
