Knauf Industries is always in phase with the changes in the food and industrial markets and knows how to respond with relevance and flexibility to the most varied needs.
Our French extrusion and thermoforming plants produce packaging that is perfectly adapted to transparent or coloured, protective atmosphere or skin packaging, frozen, microwaveable, presentation and transport packaging.
Our mono-material packaging is perfectly adapted to workshop production lines and their sealing performance is excellent.
They guarantee a perfect sealing quality, even in the presence of dirt on the sealing area, and also guarantee an excellent seal, ensuring that the gas mixture remains in the packaging.
Finally, they offer real productivity gains compared to PET. For a seal at 160°C in less than 1 second, they can withstand a pressure of 420 mb.
Their food preservation performances have been validated by the ADIV (Agro-industrial Technical Institute of Meat Industries) and by PFI Nouvelles Vagues (platform at the service of the aquatic products industry). Kapseal® and Kapclear® obtain results comparable to those of PET/PE multilayer packaging on different criteria such as total flora, residual rate of O2 and CO2
The advantages of KAP’ materials:
Our process enables us to create packaging perfectly suited to all packing needs: clear, coloured, modified atmosphere, frozen, microwavable for protection or for display or for shipping
Our products are designed using design and production simulation software.
As a manufacturer of packaging for the agri-food industry, we attach great importance to complying with hygiene and food safety requirements at our production facilities. For an active commitment to food safety matters, an HACCP (*) process is applied in the production areas assigned for food packaging.
By means of the latest-generation extrusion and thermoforming lines, Knauf Industries’ units guarantee routine high-quality products.
This guarantees our quality: optimal choice of material thickness and distribution!
The new mono-material suitable for food packaging made from up to 100% recycled post-consumer plastics.
Formulated on a PP base, it completes the KAP’ range of materials by combining technical, aesthetic and environmental advantages:
In addition to its excellent sealing qualities, R’KAP® is 100% recyclable in existing PP channels. R’KAP® is REDcert² certified.
REDcert² certification is a sustainability certification system, applicable on a European scale, which covers all sustainable raw materials (biomass, renewable energies, etc.)
This material innovation is a circular solution of choice: it reduces the use of fossil raw materials as these are replaced by a substance from post-consumer waste.
To date, all our plastic injection, extrusion and thermoforming plants are certified: Dreux (28), Pithiviers (45), La-Bernerie-en-Retz (44) and Torcé “Extrusion” (35).
A single material made of recycled and certified materials!
Kapseal® meets the needs of preservation, resistance, respect for the environment and competitiveness. Kapseal® packaging materials are easy and reliable to use industrially: they can be adapted to production lines in production areas and their sealing performance is excellent.
Furthermore, Kapseal® has a formulation developed on a PP base, a stable raw material in terms of cost and offering better medium-term visibility, unlike PS and PET.
Kapclear® is 100% transparent in order to enhance the freshness of products while preserving their colour, flavour and integrity. Developed for microwave ovens and pasteurisation, its transparency and clarity are comparable to those of PET and markedly superior to those of PP (as per the standard ISO 14782).
Kaplight® is a carbon black free material that can be detected in an optical sorting centre. With Kaplight®, your packaging is always black, its visual is enhancing and its touch is soft.
Its Kapseal® mono-material offers many advantages and this range is compatible with different types of sealing machines and sealing films.
Kapseal® and Kapclear® have a lower environmental impact than other plastic materials. Firstly, the production aims to be sustainable: less energy is required for the Kapseal® and Kapclear® extrusion process compared to other materials. The comparative LCA between Kapseal® and multi-layer complexes based on PS and PET demonstrates that Kapseal® is the material with the lowest environmental impact. Secondly, Kapseal® and Kapclear® are 100% recyclable. Their complete recyclability in selective sorting circuits (validated by COTREP) helps lower the environmental impact.
Finally, our packaging materials have an economical design. They are designed to account for material savings.
We are at your disposal to bring you the best possible solutions.
