The final goal? To shift production processes from a lineal paradigm to a<\/span><b> circular model. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In such a model, packaging products are designed with their \u201cend of life\u201d in sight and with the aim of producing as little waste as possible.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In other words, to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduce packaging waste<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> companies should take a look at the <\/span><b>design process <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of their packaging and incorporate eco-design principles. With such a perspective, packaging reduction can come from a variety of sources: from using<\/span><b> recyclable or reusable materials<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>redesigning packaging systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in order to reduce material quantities.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reduce packaging waste<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by changing your protective packaging<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Packaging optimization is a process by which protective packaging is designed so that the <\/span><b>right amount and type of packaging materials <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are used for each product\u2019s needs.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This optimization is often paired up with the generation of custom packaging solutions, which are common across a number of industries, such as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">automotive custom packaging systems.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transforming protective packaging systems often follows these 3 steps:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Packaging structures are redesigned<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in order to both guarantee protection and a smooth running of logistics, but also<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reduce packaging waste<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The right amount of packaging will both optimize costs (in transportation and storage processes), eliminate unnecessary packaging waste, and protect the goods inside.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Materials are chosen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> considering their protective capabilities but also their \u201cend of life\u201d possibilities (are they easily recyclable? Is there a reliable structure for the handling of packaging waste?).
