Safety & comfort

Bumpers

Expanded polypropylene (EPP) is an irreplaceable component material for the manufacture of front and rear bumpers.
This lightweight, impact-absorbing material allows us to constantly improve the properties of our products, ensuring the optimisation of the total weight of the motor vehicle and the safety elements for pedestrians.
The performance of our bumpers is guaranteed within Knauf Industries by extremely strict quality controls.

Automotive interiors

Expanded polypropylene (EPP) and expanded polystyrene (EPS) claim a combination of properties perfectly suited to automotive interiors: impact resistance and shock absorption.
These materials are strong, chemically neutral and 100% recyclable, making them environmentally friendly. In addition, due to their incredible soundproofing capabilities, these materials provide ideal comfort by eliminating engine noise and vibration.

Automotive Seating

The use of lightweight, flexible materials in the automotive parts manufacturing process means lower tooling costs for the manufacturer and fuel savings for the end customer.
For the production of car seats, there is no more reliable and cost-effective material than expanded polypropylene (EPP).
Expanded polypropylene (EPP) not only provides the vehicle with optimum passenger comfort, but also safety, which is simply fundamental.

Protection

Side Impact Protection System

At Knauf Industries, we also design customised side impact protection systems for our customers in the automotive industry.
Our expertise in the manufacture of expanded polypropylene (EPP) and expanded polystyrene (EPS) parts and component solutions is well known. The materials used ensure that the parts are perfectly light and have ideal impact absorption, guaranteeing safety for the driver, passengers and pedestrians.
The SIP (Side Impact Protection System) components made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) are structurally sound and ideally complement other safety systems, such as seat belts, airbags as well as roof pillars and lining. The door padding is typically used for side impacts.

Chocks and padding

Our chocks made from expanded polypropylene (EPP) perfectly level the floors of irregularly shaped vehicles. Thanks to their plastic material, the wedges can be transformed or modified to provide a uniform floor space.

Head restraints

For years, Knauf Industries has specialised in the mass production of headrests for driver and passenger safety.
Our headrests made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) can be combined with steel frames, trim pieces and comfort foams.
The EPP material chosen for the production of headrests is lightweight and absorbs the effects of impact in a crash. It also allows for a variety of design and style options.

Storage

Filler Box and Tool Box

Expanded polypropylene (EPP) is the most coveted material for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and leading OEM suppliers for toolboxes and spare wheel kits.
They are both strong and lightweight and can be designed with specific fittings to hold tools securely. In addition, Knauf Industries EPP moulded toolboxes can include inserts for fixing and can be given a surface finish to give them an exceptional aesthetic appeal.e.
