Lost foam
Lost foam is one of the most innovatory casting techniques. It works on the principle of creating a model from polystyrene or a cellular material identical to the required final part and sublimating it with molten metal during casting.
The creation of a “lost model” makes possible:
- Reduction of casting costs
- Reduction of shavings
- Reduction or even removal of the need to machine
- Production of whole single parts to avoid the need to assemble
This procedure guarantees a roughcast part in almost its final form, a high degree of dimensional precision and the production of particularly complex hollow geometrical parts.
We are one of the two worldwide producers of approved EPS beads on raw material.
As subcontractors of the Lost Foam foundry for a number of years now, we are increasingly working in direct collaboration with specifiers so as to be more familiar with their expectations and use our experience of the process to design the best-adapted part, in partnership with the foundry.
